ARVN Poplin ERDL beret with large MRF beercan. I had the beret for a long time with the traces of a removed beercan. Last year I was lucky to win the MRF disk on eBay.

PBR MEDCAPs down the river Bassac by RIV PAT SEC 514, 1968.
Sailor on the left wears a poplin or ripstop ERDL beret that drops right. Second sailor from the left has tiger stripe beret with the large TF-116 beret above the right eye or ear in this case.

Sailor with the ERDL beret seems to wear the small beercan version of the TF-116 badge.
This picture shows that there is no regulation for camo berets, pulling right or left. At least for RPS 514...

Simple answer is no. The Coast Guard security and special ops force wear either a ball cap or PASG Helmet. Merchant Marine never has (Former M M Engineer). NOAA (6th Branch of Service) Officers wear the same Uniform as the Navy w/o a beret. The reactivated Naval Special Boat Units (Teams) wear the traditional Black Beret (Vietnam Veteran,PBR MoBaseOne Tan Mai). The Beret is some times despised by senior Officers of Spec. Forces, Rangers and Paratroopers which they feel is belonging to only them! The Armor Units used to wear the Black Beret until it was implemented as a uniform addition. Also most Armor ( Heavy Tank ) are restructuring into Cavalry which wear, whist in Garrison, the traditional Black Stratton (Old Cavalry Stetson) hat. Hope this helps y'all. Have a safe 4th, Warchild!
To my knowledge, there are no USMC berets. USA, USAF and USN (to my surprise) do have some.
But, have the Coasties or Merchant Mariners ever authorized any?

This beret belonged to USN Lt Robert J. McClure, CO of the RivDiv515 in February 1970 and former XO of RivDiv543, TF Clearwater.
ARVN Captain ranks are worn to ID officer status among ground SVN Forces.

When I received the beret, the ARVN captain bar was missing but the ghost was there. I had to buy a pair from another Forum member via eBay. It was a perfect match with the traces and the pin holes !

That's a very nice beret. My TF Clearwater has the metal flash!
