stratasfan Posted February 27, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 27, 2016 I received this class photo for Christmas and was wondering if anyone can help date it. It appears that most are wearing USAF chevrons, but one seems to be wearing Army stripes. I looked up one of the guys who is named on the back - PFC Earl S. Bickmore, and he enlisted in 1942. Now, if this is post WWII, then wouldn't you think he would have been more than a Private by then? Anyway, I thought I'd try looking them up to see if I can post this on any Find A Grave memorials. patches Posted February 27, 2016 Share #2 Posted February 27, 2016 Do to one man still wearing Army chevrons, the Sergeant, it probably will date to the late 40s, early 50s circa 1949, I say this besides the old Army ranks being one by the one guy, is that the one man listed as a PFC, will indicate this time period, an E-2 was indeed title Private First Class in the Air Force in 1949, after the Spring of 1952 the title changes to the more familiar Airman 3rd Class, and would be really listed or should at any rate, on the back as A3C. Can't really say much on the rank of Earl S. Bickmore, other then he may of gotten out after WWII as a PFC, and reentered the AF post war, with the rank the same.
