I GOT THIS LETTER IN A GROUPING OF P.O.W. LETTERS WHICH ARRIVED SEVERAL DAYS AGO OFF OF EBAY. A PERSON DOES NOT KNOW WHAT IS IN THE LETTERS UNTIL YOU START READING THEM. THIS PARTICULAR LETTER HIT ME HARD. TO START OFF THE LETTER DATED 9/25/1944 CAME FROM FLORENCE CORLEY FROM ALABAMA. HER HUSBAND AT THE TIME WAS 2ND LT. HENRY LAWSON CORLEY. I HAVE PHOTOGRAPHED THE TYPEWRITTEN LETTER. THE LAST THREE PARAGRAPHS IS AS EMOTIONAL AS A WIFE CAN BE. I WILL LET THE LETTER TELL THE STORY. ALSO MR. CORLEY HAD AN ONLINE INTERVIEW OF HIS WAR EXPERIENCES TAPED AND IS AVAILABLE TO LISTEN TO.

There is a MACR for aircraft 41-29140. Germans reported downed by a fighter on May 25th 1944. Corley was the bombardier and was captured wounded, hospitalized in Brussels. Germans reported 5 KIA 4 captured. (Though the actual MACR report shows the crew returned to duty?)

705th Bomb Squadron, 446th Bomb Group.
