WW2 WLA goes under for last time....

in the early years of my apprenticeship, i worked with a WW2 vet who related a funny story to me. it stuck, and now you get to hear it. seems that jack and one of the guys in his platoon were assigned the task of uncrating some motorcycles, and getting them ready to use. they decided they would take them for a ride, once ready. neither of them had ever ridden a bike before. jack wrapped his around a tree, and the other guy drove his right into an open cesspool, and then he had to swim out. jack said they just left it in there, and lied their way out of it. his was repaired, and they got away with it. i bet that bike is still there. who would want to go get it? not me.
