jw1969 Posted February 13, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2016 A wonderful piece of art and history for my collection, this WW1-era OD wool base fabric with six uncut 77th Inf Div patches embroidered on it. What is very different with the Schiffli made cut edge patches embroidered on cotton twill base fabric in the 1940s and following: here, is the lack of the continuous bobbin thread that runs from one patch to the other when the following patch was embroidered. jw1969 Posted February 13, 2016 Author Share #6 Posted February 13, 2016 Nice piece Hans. The Lost Battalion my favorite movie. Thx Dennis. One of my favorites too... For those who do not know (to see the info on the 2001 movie): "The Lost Battalion (2001 film), a remake of the 1919 film". H.

jw1969 Posted February 14, 2016 Author Share #9 Posted February 14, 2016 You'll never know... There are lots of good people taking care of such items. But may be in other hands, it might be cut into 6 pieces and each patch sold separately. Here in my collection it's safe as long as I live and will explain it to my kids to keep it this way. This is preserving history... H.
