Brig Posted February 13, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2016 It's rare I wander into the helmet forum, as I rarely get helmets, but I did pick up a blue painted M1, rear seam, with a number '4' painted on it. Chinstrap appears to be some sort of replacement, not canvas. Can anyone tell me more about this...era used, purpose/unit, etc?

LarryM3 Posted February 13, 2016 Share #4 Posted February 13, 2016 Brig, if I saw this helmet on a table I would think late WWII USN, the numeral four probably indicating a gun mount where the helmet or it's owner would be assigned during General Quarter's.
