JimMooney Posted February 12, 2016 Share #4 Posted February 12, 2016 The BS looks spot on but I'm not sure about the PH.. The engraving is quiet low down on the planchet. Can you take another pic of the whole planchet?
scottplen Posted February 13, 2016 Share #5 Posted February 13, 2016 Post war IMO I would think BS would be hand engraved and not sure of the Purple Heart at all ?

Hobza Posted February 13, 2016 Share #7 Posted February 13, 2016 there is a description how he get medals in the 70s In the 1970's when I was researching Illinois MH recipients I became friends with Krotiak's twin brother who had the MH. He did not have any other of Anthony's medals. We wrote to St. Louis requesting any other medals and, eventually, a package arrived at the Krotiak residence. Inside were five medals: an engraved Bronze Star, an engraved medal that is given to all American military casualties (this full-sized medal is not pictured, only its engraving), the American Defense Service Medal, an Asia-Pacific Campaign with two bronze battle stars, and a World War II Victory. Several months later Mr. Krotiak contacted me because he had received another package from St. Louis containing another five medals, duplicating what he had already received. When I asked if I could have them he consented.

Dave Posted February 13, 2016 Share #10 Posted February 13, 2016 so these medals were engraved in the 1970's? Yes. They are 100% right for a reissue set from that time period.
