Two years ago, in 2014 a WW II era Norman Rockwell painting was discovered at Gardner High School in Massachusetts. Apparently the painting was a gift from Norman Rockwell to former principle Earl Williams sometime during the 1950s.

The painting, titled "Willie Gillis in Convoy, 1941", hung in the principle's office until 2001, after which it was placed in storage and promptly forgotten about. Thirteen years later it was rediscovered.

The painting was apparently part of a series of illustrations that were commissioned as covers for the Saturday Evening Post magazine. However, this particular painting was never used.

Upon its rediscovery even the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge Massachusetts was unaware of its existence.

The painting was auctioned in May of 2014 by Sotheby's in New York and sold for $2.85 million U.S. dollars!

Anyway, I though that forum members might like to have a look ...
