Dave

Let's see that USCG group! You didn't have it yesterday.

I will be looking forward to our next Ethiopian food expedition!

Just got back to Michigan after about 6.5hrs on the road. Well worth the trip ! Met some great USMF members, got one of Mr Jerrys freebies this morning and it's already on the fridge! Picked up some killer named groupings, an 82nd Ike and insignia group, a FSSF uniform and medal group, an AAF Pathfinder uniform group, and a Kiska dog tag and insignia group and a named pair of Mountain. Trousers, and a handful of nice patches. A successful trip!

I have to say, every single USMF member I met were great guys, I had a smile on my face for 4 straight days.

Got back last night after a 6hr drive. What can I say, the show always lives up to the hype. Talked to numerous forum members and put faces to names. Lots of great items available to buy and to look at. Found some great pieces and prices were not too bad. By noon on Saturday I had reached an unsafe level of Pork Chop sandwich consumption. It's all good.

Those fridge magnets of Jerry's were awesome and better yet, FREE! I got a military ambulance.

Second, needling Bugme about helmet collecting (is there anything better than that???) :D ;)

I can think of several thousand things better than that. Funny though, I did find a really nice M1917 medical helmet by your area that is now mine so, the harassment was offset by the helmet. Oddly enough, I've decided to start your book review today Dave. But don't you worry, I would never think of letting your needling in any way influence my review... really. :)

I got home at 2AM this morning after driving 10 hours straight. Another fantastic show of buying and selling. I very much enjoyed all of the conversations that I had with forum members, and am especially glad I caught up with Irish at the end of a show for an important last minute buy!

I now have to go through my three bins of finds weighing in at over 100 lbs of good stuff.

I rolled in about 2:30 am myself.Already thinking about next year's show.I seen old friends and saw many forum friends...that is always neat.
I actually caught sight of Owen walking around the show...I heard there was a large pile of camo uniforms on the other side of the room...I understand Owen belly flopped into the pile of camo...he was never to be seen again...

There is nothing better than going on a trip and then to return home. Many things remind us of our roots and our sense of belonging...the state line. ..Dogwood trees...sweet tea and hush puppies. ..but here is my favorite one of all...went to clean the grime off my road dirty truck...this sign at the local carwash always let me know...I'm home...it just screams North Carolina. ..rps20160221_083302.jpg rps20160221_083302.jpg

Justin picked up an awesome anti sub grouping from VC-69 which was attached to the USS Bogue. I can't wait to see more of it. I'm going to guess Dave will want to see it too!

Robert was right !
However my big show score happened an hour into set up.
I did not recover from my hit and honestly like to hit the show on low profile mode hunting.
Here's my SF grouping that was found in a FT Bragg thrift store in the early 90s

Dave, I looked for you to get an autographed book(Blue Seas, Red Stars).  I didnt find the table you were at until midday Friday.  You were out shopping so went over and got a book from Lance before I left.  Maybe next year, I can get an autograph.  I am really enjoying the book. It is great. Sorry I missed you.

Robert

That was my Uncle's and I's table.

I guess I should have worn a USMF badge or something.

Not sure man, I just remember an m1 that was sort of a funny green like WWII navy aviation greens... Whoever it was, I think, was with Dick Cole... I had the hbt hat and M43 with tech sergeant ranks (I don't wear rank EVER usually, but it just showed up and was used in the filming of Fatal Crossroads about Malmedy).

Dave, (and KV) sorry I missed you, I had one heck of a headache, so I just powered through to try to make some finds...

Did you see the USS Indianapolis PH??

Sorry I missed you too, Garand! My M1 was the standard WW2 version so that wasn't me. But I'm sure we were in the same area more than once on Friday.

I saw the Indianapolis PH you mentioned...and I'm still in awe. Special meaning for me too as it had a connection to my home state.

Hope to see you next year!

My lone contribution to the sales end, my buddies had less room than expected so I couldn't squeeze the out until half way thru Friday. Two brothers from Detroit, one was AB, the other AAF.

The DSC is from a 1945 Robbins contract. I thought He was awarded the actual medal in 1944. Perhaps he had more than one medal.
