Interesting that the metal was reblued, but it does look like the PHW M8A1 scabbard was painted (but most was rubbed off). Comments?

I have to say I have mixed feelings on these themes. On the one hand I appreciate the craftsmanship that is often expressed in these conversions. On the other hand I prefer these military blades in their original configuration most of the time. It really is something that gets considered on a case by case basis. This M6 starting out as an Aerial does emote a little sadness in me. On the other hand if the guard was marked AN I'd be in tears. That being said I like the work on this one.

I bypassed this knife for at least three or four months; saw it first around November last year, and then again just last week. It was with a Ka-bar USN Mark 2 (guard marked) that had been converted in the same manner, although it had a hand-made leather sheath, and the blade was completely reshaped to look like a bowie knife with a thin blade. All that was left to identify it was the guard. Not sure I'd be back that way again, and I do like bayonets that have been made into knives.

Also, I have a relatively unused Aerial M6 so I've filled that slot in my collection.

It's a well done conversion. I'd have pulled the trigger on it. I got a Milpar M5A1 from the CMP that's pretty rough that I have been wondering what to with. I've thought about doing something similar.
