I posted this grouping yesterday to the "Groupings" forum until someone told me about this forum. I think you guys might appreciate it more...

Two days ago, I acquired this very extraordinary World War One grouping. The grouping is named to Pvt. Austin Paul McCarthy, a Burlington Massachusetts native who enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force in May of 1916. McCarthy initially enlisted in the 212th Battalion (an American battalion in the CEF), but went overseas with the 12th Battalion Canadian Garrison Regiment. He served overseas for at least 1 year before he was wounded at the Second Battle of Passchendaele on November 4th, 1917 from a gunshot wound to his left arm/forearm. He was sent to the Vernon Park Military Hospital in Stockport, England to recover and was medically discharged. He was finally discharged from the Canadian Expeditionary Force on December 27th, 1918.

Photo is of Pvt. McCarthy and his wife/girlfriend (note cap badge and collar insignia)

one of his collar insignia (bullet is attached to pin which might make this a sweetheart piece or memento)

Nice group! Do you have his complete service record from LAC? It will tell you which battalion he served with in Belgium/France.
