AirMechanic Posted January 27, 2016 Share #1 Posted January 27, 2016 I recently acquired these three EGA's and need some help to identify their age. #1) I believe this EGA is a 1930 pattern enlisted service hat badge. Is this correct? #2) This EGA is an enlisted service hat badge, but I am unsure of the pattern. Is it also a 1930 pattern? #3) This item is a ribbon fob with an EGA on it. I am not sure if it had something printed on the ribbon at one point, as I don't see any writing on it. The EGA is marked sterling on the back and is well made. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Any ideas what it was for? Is the EGA an original insignia that was converted to be used on the ribbon, or was this made specifically for this purpose? Any help is appreciated!

Brig Posted February 6, 2016 Share #7 Posted February 6, 2016 You are correct on the first emblem. It is a variant of the issue M30 Second emblem is an M1920. See attached image for the slight differences between the issue pattern M20 and M30 Third appears to be made from an unfinished collar emblem, or someone did a really good job of removing the pin/roller from a complete one
AirMechanic Posted February 8, 2016 Author Share #8 Posted February 8, 2016 Thanks for the identification! I often don't know what characteristics to look for that distinguish one EGA from another.
