patches Posted December 28, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 28, 2015 The two Shamrock types are for pre war units of the 38th Division, that National Guard Division the symbols stand for West Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana, states that made up the 38th Division back then, don't know which units, I think the Light Blue one is the 76th Infantry Brigade, remembering that the Division of the 20s-30s had Brigades in it, two to be exact, these were zeroed out in early WWII. The squat pentigon type again for a pre war unit of a NG Division, in this case the 37th Division of Ohio, it's in Buff like one of the 38th Div ones, so maybe these are for the Div Train??? Sure others will know. The one on the very far upper right is for the 159th Infantry California National Guard.
DHolly Posted December 28, 2015 Share #3 Posted December 28, 2015 Top left is the 333rd Engineer Regiment and bottom right is the 9th Signal Battalion. According to the ASMIC Charge Catalog the blue three leaf clover is for either the 38th Tank Company or the 76th Infantry Brigade. The buff colored three leaf clover is for the 113th Motorcycle Company. Dave

1SG_1st_Cav Posted December 28, 2015 Share #11 Posted December 28, 2015 The beaver gnawing on the tree stump is for the 380th Engineer Battalion. The Blue Dragon could be the 81st Fighter Group. The Red, White and Blue Roundel is typical for WWI Aviation related. Happy New Year!
tredhed2 Posted December 28, 2015 Share #12 Posted December 28, 2015 Nah, looking in my brand new CWS DI and Cloth Insignia catalog, which we sell to the public, #7 is the 301st Chemical Regt. That's not a dragon, it's a cockatrice. Look closer at the head.
Steve B. Posted December 28, 2015 Share #13 Posted December 28, 2015 The red/white/blue roundel was previously identified on the forum as for WWII French personnel training in the U.S.: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/253013-unknown-cut-edge-1-12-round-red-white-and-blue-patch/?hl=%2Bfrench+%2Broundel&do=findComment&comment=2024561
tredhed2 Posted December 28, 2015 Share #14 Posted December 28, 2015 #9 is probably not a US DI. Too small, and the colors do not correspond with US heraldry; additionally, that beaded border is inconsistent with US DIs. W/ all the FDLs, and the Fr roundel as has been provided by Steve B, it probably is a Fr unit related to the roundel.
