Tony V Posted December 24, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 24, 2015 I just received this the other weekend and was wondering if it is for a WWII Veteran or perhaps a sweetheart pin ? The back reads Pat 13149 (Size is a little larger than a nickel.) Sterling Thanks Tony
bobgee Posted December 24, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 24, 2015 Never seen this one before. It almost looks like a Soviet badge. My guess would be sweetheart. Bobgee
Bruce Linz Posted December 24, 2015 Share #3 Posted December 24, 2015 Hello, That is a sweetheart piece. The star is a variation of the WWII son in service pin. Beautiful Semper Fi, Bruce Linz
Bob Hudson Posted December 24, 2015 Share #4 Posted December 24, 2015 For those who don't know about the "Blues Star Mothers" and Service Star flags, checkout http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/15989-star-of-serviceblue-star-flags/ (there's a link in that thread to another good thread). This Marine mom's piece is the most interesting Blue Star pin I've ever seen.

Bob Hudson Posted December 25, 2015 Share #6 Posted December 25, 2015 ! I learn something new every day, or try to. Me too. I wondered about the blue star on the red star and it based on one of the documents at the link, it means Decorated For Distinguished Service. Tony V Posted December 26, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted December 26, 2015 Your most welcome Bob, if I could find out the veterans name it would be a lot of help. I will try to look into just that the next time I see the gentleman. Tony
