I just received this the other weekend and was wondering if it is for a WWII Veteran or perhaps a sweetheart pin ?

The back reads Pat 13149 (Size is a little larger than a nickel.)

Sterling

Thanks

Tony

Hello,

That is a sweetheart piece. The star is a variation of the WWII son in service pin. Beautiful

For those who don't know about the "Blues Star Mothers" and Service Star flags, checkout http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/15989-star-of-serviceblue-star-flags/ (there's a link in that thread to another good thread).

This Marine mom's piece is the most interesting Blue Star pin I've ever seen.

Me too. I wondered about the blue star on the red star and it based on one of the documents at the link, it means Decorated For Distinguished Service.

Your most welcome

Bob, if I could find out the veterans name it would be a lot of help. I will try to look into just that the next time I see the gentleman.
