trimix Posted December 24, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 24, 2015 I have come across this Air corp. ID bracelet and i trying to research the military record of this person. All i have is the name and some type of id #. Can anyone help me with this identification?
McDermut99 Posted December 24, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 24, 2015 The serial number belongs to a army reserve officer, all reserve officer serials start with "O-". Unfortunately if all you have is the reserve serial and no name it is next to impossible to research the owner. I have been trying to research a couple reserve serials of my own for some time, and have had no luck.
McDermut99 Posted December 24, 2015 Share #3 Posted December 24, 2015 You could try searching his serial number through the wartime army registers: http://archive.org/search.php?query=subject%3A%22United%20States.%20Army%20and%20Navy%
trimix Posted December 24, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted December 24, 2015 The person name is on the other side and the site you sent me to is great. Thank you so much. Trimix
MattS Posted December 24, 2015 Share #5 Posted December 24, 2015 You have his name, service number, and he was apparently a bombardier. If you can determine what type of aircraft or what unit he was in, you might find more. Many bomb groups have excellent websites.
AAF_Collection Posted December 24, 2015 Share #6 Posted December 24, 2015 For a quick search the name is more use than the serial number, but for a fee a researcher can probably pull his personnel file from the NARA using the name and number, although some files are more complete than others.. trimix Posted December 24, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted December 24, 2015 I did not get much out of NARA seeing i only have the person reserve number. I tried searching the name only and still nothing, i will keep searching. Thanks
McDermut99 Posted December 24, 2015 Share #8 Posted December 24, 2015 What is the bombadier's name? I can look around and see what I can find on him. Edit: If you have a chance could you post a picture of the other side of the bracelet?
trimix Posted December 24, 2015 Author Share #9 Posted December 24, 2015 http://wwii-army.mooseroots.com/ I was able to get a little further but there is not much on peoples military history for great generation on the internet. All you can find is gov. paperwork. Here's another cool site to help researchers.

It could have been, officer serial numbers (reserve or not) didn't usually change.
5thwingmarty Posted December 24, 2015 Share #13 Posted December 24, 2015 If you can tell me his name I can look him up in a book and probably see what bombardier class he was in. Also, I have a roster of the members of the 99th BG with many of the members serial numbers. The officer's serial numbers I have all start with 0- except for the Warrant Officers that start with W-.
