TALLYHO Posted December 16, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 16, 2015 A US doughboy souvenir from Verdun France. Standing on end it measures 2 3/4" high x 1 5/8" wide x 5/8" deep. A lot of fine detail work.

scottiques Posted December 16, 2015 Share #4 Posted December 16, 2015 GREAT piece of trench art. I have seen many of these "book" lighters, but this has to be one of the best in terms of quality! Great patina on the brass and copper. Scott
TALLYHO Posted December 16, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted December 16, 2015 Thanks Scott, I picked that up on eBay about 6-8 years ago. Paid $60 for it and a crimped 37mm shell casing with the the crest of Verdun on it. Today the lighter alone would for substantially more.
