WW1 Verdun Book Lighter Souvenir

A US doughboy souvenir from Verdun France. Standing on end it measures 2 3/4" high x 1 5/8" wide x 5/8" deep. A lot of fine detail work.

GREAT piece of trench art.  I have seen many of these "book" lighters, but this has to be one of the best in terms of quality!

 

Great patina on the brass and copper.

Thanks Scott, I picked that up on eBay about 6-8 years ago. Paid $60 for it and a crimped 37mm shell casing with the the crest of Verdun on it. Today the lighter alone would for substantially more. Clay
