Ronald Posted December 8, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 8, 2015 Are the OSS sleeve patches on EBAY (I see one yellow thread and one grey thread) the type used in WW2? I have 2 Colt pistols (Detective Special and 1903) that are OSS lettered and I want to make a display and have a patch. to display. Thanks
ocsfollowme Posted December 8, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 8, 2015 The originals sell for $3000 and are fully embroidered in black and yellow. Go to http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/227563-sugamo-prison-patch-imtfe-war-crimes-trials-patch/?hl=%2Bharbor+%2Bnet+%2Btender&do=findComment&comment=1807631 and look at post #2. Most ones that you see on eBay are the Marston copies. Unless you have $3000 sitting around, this is the best thing for a display. I have one of these on my ww2 patch quilt since I do not have $3000 sitting around. Steve

ocsfollowme Posted December 8, 2015 Share #4 Posted December 8, 2015 Marston copies go for about $25-60 depending on the fact if people know they are original or not. I do not believe that Marston copies react to black light...which is why I paid the $70. I paid $70 for mine...before I was on this forum and an ASMIC member. I saw the patch listed in one of the old patch books and thought that I needed to have it. I had no clue that originals were fully embroidered or worth $3000. Thanks Period original OSS patches are quite rare and very, very expensive. Numerous photos show many in uniform and many not wearing insignia, other than rank. You don't just jump in and start buying them.

Ronald Posted December 10, 2015 Author Share #12 Posted December 10, 2015 Who say anything about " just jumping in and start buying them"? Don't be so condescending . Anything OSS insignia/uniform related is difficult to find references to because nothing was uniform with the organization as it was designed to be.. Folks have the ability to distinguish between fake crap and good items. Period original OSS patches are quite rare and very, very expensive. You do not have to agree and some folks have different delivery styles. Chill out or don't ask questions you do not want answers or suggestions regarding. Ronald Posted December 10, 2015 Author Share #14 Posted December 10, 2015 How about applying it to all the posters! I posted a comment in the firearms forums and got a warning from the moderator not to be rude or condescending in my remarks. It appears that some folks are allowed to be condescending in their replies and others aren't! If everyone read the comments prior, you will see I was already given the help and then other just like they had to add the same info.

mortaydc60 Posted December 11, 2015 Share #16 Posted December 11, 2015 By the way I believe those are scans of my patches and wish to thank Robert for posting them. More importantly I believe this is the first time that scans of side by side comparison have been shown anywhere. These will be at the SOS along with other high end killer items. manayunkman Posted December 11, 2015 Share #17 Posted December 11, 2015 I sold one, and the only one I ever found, on eBay over 10 years ago on an off day for just under 1000.00. I was expecting more but mine had a little bit more snow on the back. Everyone said it was good but I advertised it as questionable since it didn't match Morts exactly.
