I learned that Admiral De Poix passed away on February 3, 2015 at the age of 98. I knew the admiral though correspondence and phone conversations about his service over several years and I was honored to be chosen by him to preserve a few of his artifacts several years ago. He was a great man and he will be greatly missed.

He was a graduate of the Naval Academy Class of 1939 - was a fighter pilot over Guadalcanal and had 3 victories to his credit. He had numerous commands to include VF-172, VX-4, USS Albemarle, USS Enterprise and he served as Commander of the 7th Fleet off Vietnam, The 2nd Fleet and the Defense Intelligence Agency.

Impressive man. May he rest in peace. I'd also love to see what you have if you would be so kind.

He was indeed an impressive man with an impressive career - Per request some artifacts he entrusted me with from one of my displays

I didn't know him but I had the opportunity a few years ago to buy a pistol from him that was a gift from the Navy SEALs. The S&W letter confirms that this pistol was delivered to the SEAL HQ at Coronado, CA and the affidavit from Adm. de Poix authenticates the gift.
