The ONLY one I have ever found was by LTC Charles R. River; METAL INSIGNIAS OF THE U.S. AIR FORCES SECURITY POLICE & his SUPPLEMENT 1 1987-1988.Not sure when the original was published, I got it in the late 70s/early 80s.Both show beret badges, AP, SP, unauthorized badges and qual badges. first one is 16 pages and the supplement is 30 pages and also has patches. Both are B/W and out of print.

Thanks for that info, Firefighter! I'll see if I can get either of them through interlibrary loan. Hopefully, if he filed for an ISBN there will be copies via the Library of Congress.

I don't remember seen any numbers or even a publish date.

Yeh, I'll fill the form out at the local library and see what turns up. Thanks, again!

For specific questions about the shields, best thing to do is contact the Security Forces Museum at Lackland AFB or AFSFA..

Otherwise, I would check out the second "Into The Blue" volume.

In the most recent Security Forces journal magazine, there was an article explaining that a retired Air Force Master Sergeant named Chris Arnold was beginning work on a book called "Sky-Cops and Peacekeepers: Uniforms and Equioment of the USAF Air Police and Security Police."

The project was just in the begining stage. There was no indication when it would be completed.

He is working on the book now. I loaned him some items for the book.I don't think he is even close to publishing it yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it will be soon. There is also a nice selection of AP/SP's in Vietnam in the book YANKEE AIR PIRATES vol 1.

I bought a book off of ebay called Police badges and shields of the US Air Force by MSgt Chris Armold for $30. Very good source on USAF badges from 40s up to today.
