teufelhunde.ret Posted August 16, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 16, 2008 During the early years of the 1920's, Kenneth George Luke started his metal craft business in Melbourne Australia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenneth_Luke Throughout their years of operation hundreds if not thousands of Militaria emblems, accoutrement's designs have been made for world-wide use. During WW2, in March of 1943 the First Marine Division was sent to Australia (Camp Balcombe) for a period of R&R, re-supply and re-fit, after the bitter fighting of Guadalcanal. These EGA's shown here are an outcome of their stay, before moving on, several hundreds of Aussie uniforms were and equipped with these emblems. Their has not been any confirmed Cap or dress blue emblems positively id'ed. While not rare in that sense, they are very unique in design. Their pinback feature and unique character, not to speak of limited quantities, make them very desirable to the collector.
