BowlofRice Posted October 5, 2015 Share #1 Posted October 5, 2015 So on Thursday, I picked up my boots from the cobbler, and walked by the neighboring vintage store. I spotted an Air Corps star hanging on the rack outside, went closer to inspect it...and pulled out this! Not bad for $45 CAD ($35 USD) eh? A 13th Air Force officer coat! It's in near-mint condition, and even better, it fits me! The tailoring is interesting (I was told about this style before, and have seen a couple examples)...The shoulders are big, bigger than any of the size 39-40 WWII coats in my collection. So it's probably around a size 42. However, the waist has been taken in and fits more like a size 40. Which is great...because that's just my size. And we all know that 40R isn't exactly common for these coats... Anyway, more pics. The patches. The felt AAF patch and fancy stitching is a nice touch. BowlofRice Posted October 5, 2015 Author Share #2 Posted October 5, 2015 This is the interesting thing about this coat. It doesn't have the outline stitches like on my other one. Is this just a production variation? In addition, the fabric feels a lot lighter and softer...almost like a 1990's polyester Army Green jacket... Here's the tailor label and name. Can someone help me research him please? All in all I'm quite happy I found this. I need a belt, but luckily the belt off my other coat is a near-perfect shade match. I also need some ribbons, but I'm pretty sure I know what to get. A pair of wings may also be in order (if I could find out what the former owner was, I'd know exactly which type to get, if I need a pair).
