WWII Naval Aviator Uniform to Fighter Pilot VF-29 2 Kills

I was in California last weekend for a birthday party and stopped by Bob Chatt's Bellflower show on Sunday and found this uniform.

What is really cool about this uniform is the visor hat. It has a REAL crusher bill on it. It can be folded in half and is made of calf skin. I am not going to fold it all the way as I dont want to crack the finish. The ribbons are also sewn on. I like the fact there is no WWII Victory on the ribbon bar. That means the ribbons were applied before the war ended.

This pilot flew Hellcats with VF-29 off of the USS Cabot and scored 2 kills during the war.

Thanks guys. I have always felt that Naval Aviator uniforms just don't get the same level of excitement among collectors as patched AAF Uniforms do. I guess its the eye candy factor.

As long as I can keep finding really cool WWII Naval Aviator uniforms with good history behind them for reasonable prices, I will keep buying them. I see Aviation Green Naval Aviator uniforms named with bullion wings sell on Ebay all the time for $50 or less. There are some real sleepers being sold. On the other had, you can cut the wing off the uniform and get more than $50 for it. It just doesn't make sense.

Great looking group Kurt! I'm kind of surprised of the relative low prices of USN aviation uniforms also. Especially when you can get their complete service records from St. Louis. No speculation about assignments or awards. You even have an excellent chance at getting their file photo too.
