In all of the years that I have known Bob, I have never seen him wear his big boy pants.....

I can't wait for tomorrow! This is going to be a great show (even if I am set up next to Vance)!

Allan

I'll echo Vance's comments. There are several members here at the show. I would say there are close to 100 tables and some of the tables are stacked with Riker mounts, uniforms, etc. Most of the prices seem to be pretty reasonable. There are some gems there too- one is a 20th Kansas SAW medal to an officer in I Company. I also saw some phenomenal tank destroyer insignia. If you can make it, I would say it will be worth the trip.

We'll try to get some photos up tomorrow.

Allan

Sounds like a good time thanks Allan and Vance for the report.

Thought about making the trip but decided against it and now mother nature is blessing us with a little winter...11.5 inches of snow so far.

This isnt a wedding cake...its what my truck looked like at 6pm and stll snowing.

Geez Ron....I heard Iowa was going to get slammed. I have a coworker who is bound and determined to go to the Iowa football game tomorrow. I left Omaha at 9am to head down I 29 as fast as I could and still ran into rain. HOPE YOU CAN DIG OUT!

The boys state football championships were post poned in Cedar Falls on friday.Going east of DesMoines they recommended no travel tonight.Reports eastern Iowa got hit too.Suppose to be 30 mph wind at times tommorro here.
Desmoines got around 4" last I heard but acted like they were the epicentre of the storm.Northern tier got the brunt as well as east.

The snow is east of KC this morning, but it is long-pants weather and if you're a West Coast militaria dealer in Leavenworth you don't need goo to spike your hair: just wet it and step outside until it freezes.

I'm glad I went and met some of you great dealers out there! Thanks for sharing stories with me and making new connections. I also found out I'm not the only Major Z out there. Who knew?! Hope to see all of you in February at the SoS.

The show was a good one in my opinion.  It was good to see several forum members there and to see Bob in long pants.  Prices were good and plenty of items to choose from.  Items ranged from Civil War to modern.  Guns, flight helmets, painted helmets, uniforms, gear, and of course cloth / metal insignia.  I will post some of my pick ups later.  I will attend again next year!

I have some photos I will post as well.  Yes,... Bob in long pants.  Apparently he has discovered they are useful in the Midwest from about November through April!

I had a good show as well.  Picked up a very nice set of boots and a holster that I was looking for.

Well... I saw you with your big boy pants on at the show so at least one eyeball witness exists.  Of course your sneakers were blinding me so much that it was difficult to see the trousers.

Due to schedule conflicts (and getting old) I was not able to have tables at the show.  I was able to spend some time there Friday Evening.  What surprised me was the dealers who showed up who haven't been to shows in the area before this time.  This made the show more interesting, especially seeing items not seen before.  Variety is the spice of life.  A couple of my purchases were a nice bullion pilot wing on a blue background.  The boys of 8th and 9th Air Forces would look proud wearing one of these.  Another acquisition was a patch from Twin Cities Ordnance Plant.  A nice looking patch with a medical flavor.

Kudos to Jason for a great effort in putting together a first class show.

As mentioned in an earlier post, there was a nice 20th Kansas Volunteers Medal at the show.  It was awarded to members of the regiment for service in the Philippines, 1898-1899.  What made this one so nice is that it is named to an officer.  On average, individual companies of the regiment only had three officers at any one time.  The medal is named to 2nd Lt Frederick R Dodge, Company I.  Dodge When the regiment was mustered in, Dodge was the (Regimental) Sergeant Major.  He later received a field commission.  While still in the Philippines, he was discharged to accept an appointment as Captain in the 36th U.S. Volunteer Infantry.  If anybody has additional info on Dodge, would sure like to hear from you.

PS:  My thanks to all who helped make the deal for me, all four of you (The guy in long pants was not involved).

Thank you everyone who attended the Leavenworth show as vendors and customers.  I had a blast putting it together and look forward to doing it again next year.  We had 96 tables total rented out which I think is phenomenal for a first show.  Next year I want to double it.  The building has plenty of room to expand into.  I'll be booking the reservation next week.  Tentatively,  I will shoot for November 17th & 18th 2016.

Sorry Bob, but you know what they say, if it's on the web, it must be true!  Enjoy the pics!

Jason

We need to say a word or two about the venue...an 1887 railway station that had been converted to a community center.  The place was a treasure in itself!  I spent an hour just looking the building over.

There is still a set of active tracks just outside the hall, and Union Pacific trains flew by at full speed several times during the show, just adding to the excitement.
