FT.Monmouth1943 Posted September 2, 2015 Share #1 Posted September 2, 2015 I recently picked up these ribbons and they are FAR from clean. My question is, can they be cleaned? And if so, how? I believe the ribbons are a post WWI USMC Good Conduct and Occupation ribbon. All comments are welcome.
Dave Posted September 2, 2015 Share #2 Posted September 2, 2015 No, I'd leave them. There's every chance (especially with the GC medal) that the colors will bleed. Plus, it appears that the staining on the AM is actually rust, so getting that out easily is a no-go. I'd just consider these to have "character"... BROBS Posted September 2, 2015 Share #3 Posted September 2, 2015 no good way to clean silk ribbons like that... unfortunately. (that I know of.. if someone does I would love to hear it) sometimes if there is only light soiling on the surface you can get away with using rubbing alcohol, as it dries so quickly it won't make the colors bleed. -Brian
FT.Monmouth1943 Posted September 2, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted September 2, 2015 Thanks for the input. I think I'll just let these ribbons be.
