Those of you who know me are familiar with my Father In Law's work for the past 30 years to get the unknowns from the Pearl Harbor attack interred at the Cemetary of the Pacific identified. His work has resulted in the Government beginning the task to identify them all starting with the USS Oklahoma unknowns.

There is an article here explaining the effort

I got the chance to see 4 grave sites being disinterred today. It was a very emotional experience seeing the work and its meaning. Here are some photos of the work, but out of respect for the Veterans we did not take pictures of the caskets.

My Father in Law served on the USS Honolulu on that day in December 1941. He is doing this work to bring closure to the families of the men he considers to be his shipmates.

Thank you for your comment! I would have to say that Ray gets all the credit. Without his tireless efforts, none of this would have ever happened.

I applaud both of your efforts and am glad the government is taking the appropriate steps to identify these remains. I assume relatives of those unaccounted for have given DNA samples for comparison? Hopefully the majority of these vets will be identified, if not all of them.
