WWII bombing run aerial photos

I recently picked up 30 9"x9" WWII aerial bombing photos for a song. Unfortunately there is no way to identify their location. There is nothing written at the bottom of the photo fronts and nothing written on the backs. Which is probably why they were so cheap. I'll work on trying to ID the locations, but thought this example of a bombing run was worth showing.

This composite image is of parts of 2 different photos with a little overlap.

Originally I thought the lines of black dots on the bottom photo were trees. But when the same location is examined on the top photo there are no "trees". Thoses are bombs.

The two photos were taken at different times of the day as is evident from the lighting. I assume the top photo was taken first (no craters) and the bottom photo on the later bombing run. The bombers released their bombs on slightly divergent bombing runs so the patterns have an angle between them.

Neat, huh?
