WW I, 2nd Army Engineer who looks like a more youthful Lou Dobbs, ex host of a CNN show and current host of a show on the Fox Business Network and an occasional guest on the O'Reilly Factor.

How about this guy, a Ft Dix  Basic Trng Co CO 1961. Dennis Quaid looks a lot like him, especially when Quaid portrayed Gordo in The Right Stuff, couldn't find a real good image of Quaid in The Right Stuff, mostly ones with Quaid with shades on, or in a space helmet, but found this one of him.

This Pre WWII Soldier was originally posted by BOLO up in Helmets, and other members commented that he looks like Spencer Tracy, I think so too.

Ironically, he served in the US Army in WW2, mostly in Special Services. But played WW2 Germans several times.

John Banner, as SGT Schultz, served in the AAF during WW2:

Hard to believe that's the same man, huh?

At first I thought this Civil war sutler looked like a scruffy Bob Dylan. But when I compared him to that singer it dawned on me that he actually looked more like the British actor Christian bail or vice versa ...

Right.  It's Harold Lloyd, best known for his silent comedies and stunts that he did himself.   Here's Harold hanging out at 9th and Broadway in LA, from 1923's "Safety Last".

For some reason I always thought Lloyd seved in the Army briefly in the Great War, apparently not. Unknown on his draft status as we can tell.

You got my curiosity going.   Lloyd's one of my favorite silent stars, probably because of his amazing stunt work-- with only one complete hand from a stunt explosion in 1919.   He put exempt on his WW1 draft card-  reason,  to care for his father.    Lloyd was exactly 35 days younger than my grampa, another Midwesterner, who also claimed an exemption on his WW1 draft card- to care for his 60 year old widowed mother but ended up enlisting in the Navy.

Actually, I think in the eye and cheeks, that M-60 gunner looks a lot like Christopher Reeves...

Great thread!   And it's even more fun to make Patches (or anyone else) ID who the lookalikes are.  I think the celebrity will get identified before the military man.   Hint-  He was a naval officer.   :D

C'mon, Patches-- you da' man!  I know you can get this one.  Neither of them are obscure--- just really old.  The officer was a flag officer and the celebrity, with a mug like that, was from the Golden Age of Comedy.
