That is really neat, do you suppose it was for an "Aerial" gun? (joke). That cartridge was made at the Evansville Chrysler Sunbeam (ECS) plant at Evansville, IN in, as you said, 1943. You probably noticed it is a steel cased round. EC literally made Billions of rounds of small arms ammunition.
