D-DAY US NAVY Bronze Star Group SKIPPER LST 372

This is a group that was saved from being broken up. I bought the paperwork on Ebay and a friend of mine found the medals at a flea market in SOCAL along with the recipient's sons medals from Vietnam.

LST 372 saw a lot of action in WWII participating in the landings at Sicily, Salerno, and Normandy. The Capt. of the ship was present for all 3 actions.

There is a lot more paperwork with the group, but I think the pieces I photographed do a good job of telling the story of this man and his ship .

Lets never forget the "Day of Days ".

Great group Kurt!....documents are soooo under rated in the US militaria world. What you posted in #3 is his actual award (vice the medal on the bar)

Very nice group and a great save keeping it together. It's a great feeling to keep the history of a veteran together when you get the rare chance. I had to save a group to a Hellcat Pilot recently from being scattered to the wind.

Nice WW2 USN Bronze star group with the award certificate and commission. In addition to his automotive surname, his bio says he was a member of the Antique Car Club of America.

My dad was Vernal A. Pelkey, he was a baker on the ship. Wish I had some of his photos from the war, but my brother has them. The one photo I tried to attach said the file was too big. I will look for another soon to try.

I so glad to have found this post. My father Stanley Bryk served on the LST 372 as a Boatswain's Mate First Class. Thank you for finding this.
