Walther PP NSKK Variation?

My grandfather was a WWII vet who served in the European Theater. Recently he passed and willed me what I believe to be a National Socialist Motor Corps Variation Walther PP in very good condition brought back from overseas. As you can see from the attached images, the NSKK insignia is factory etched on the side with serial number 186912P. I also have what I believe to be the original holster for the pistol still in excellent condition. The inside flap appears to have some faded proof marks which I cannot make out.

Are my suspicions correct about this Walther? If so, what is a possible value for the pistol and holster? How rare is this particular Nazi party variation? Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

That is a nice pistol and holster. Since it came directly to you from your grandfather its originality is hard to question. Perhaps you can tell us a little more about your grandfather's service and how he came to possess this Walther.

Here's a scarce one for the collector of WWII handguns! This is a Walther PP that was procured for the German NSKK. The NSKK (Nationalsozialistisches Kraftfahrkorps) was the official transportation branch of the Nazi Party and it was their responsibility to transport military & political leaders as well as handle other vital military transportation needs. The NSKK was formed in 1930 and was instrumental in the Nazi Party gaining political power as they moved leaders and groups of thugs from one place to the next rapidly, permitting the spread of the Nazi propaganda while suppressing the opposition. The NSKK Walther PP pistols were likely issued to ranking officials within the NSKK and it appears there were about 3500 of these pistols made. They differ from standard PP production primarily by the slide legend. The standard legend is shifted slightly toward the muzzle to allow room for the NSKK eagle logo just ahead of the cocking serrations. The finish was the high polish commercial blue.

Thank you to everyone for the helpful feedback. I unfortunately don't know a lot about the specifics of my grandfather's service during WWII. He never really wanted to discuss anything and we certainly tried to respect his wishes in that regard. Most of what I learned of his service came from obtaining his DD Form 214 following his passing. I know he saw action during the latter part of the war in the Rhineland.

A very nice hard to find PP variant however the holster is for a Makarov pistol which wasn't fielded till the late 50's.

Check out my post about the Walther PP that my Dad brought back. I looked up the serial number and it was made in 1939.

 

Note that it has the magazine release on the bottom of the grip.
