I have no way of covering up what is possibly the social security number if one of the administrators can help. Has anyone ever come across anything like this. I saw this thread last night but couldn't think of what to say, though I don't think they're original. I don't have many modern dog tags but not much about this one looks right. No blood type, no religion and I can't say I've ever seen the branch the person was in spelled out all the way and not abbreviated. All the dashes are strange as well. There's one before the SS number (wonder if it's real?) and even between Special and Forces. I bet they're not talking about fish wolves, either. gwb123 Posted August 7, 2008 Share #8 Posted August 7, 2008 Someone may disagree with me, but I don't believe it is standard practice to name your unit or even something generic like "Special Forces" on your dog tags. That would not work out very well if you were captured. The same goes for what appears to be a "code name". Plus there seems to be a lack of wear on these.
