clllclal Posted August 3, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 3, 2008 Would that be correct(arrowhead device) for a bombardier's asiatic pacific campaign ribbon bar? Also, would a bombardier be an officer or enlisted man? Thanks Chad
doyler Posted August 3, 2008 Share #2 Posted August 3, 2008 I would say yes if they participated in an invasion.I have seen them on ETO ribbon bar groups for the normandy air units that participated in the invasion.I also have a glider pilots uniform and he has an arrow head for Varsity. He also was at Market Garden but flew the second day and not the initial drop. Bombadiers were normally officers.I have spoken to men in the 8th Airforce EMs that were "togglers".These guys would flip the switch on a bombing mission and were not really bombadiers by trade. They waited for the lead plane(s) to drop on tarket and then these men would follow suit. Wailuna Posted August 3, 2008 Share #3 Posted August 3, 2008 Here's TIOH on the bronze arrowhead question: A bronze arrowhead is worn on the ribbon to indicate participation in a combat parachute jump, combat glider landing, or amphibious assault landing within the Asiatic-Pacific Theater (link here.) If you know the bombardier's unit, you might be able to find out if it had assault landing credit.
