sigsaye Posted July 11, 2015 Share #19 Posted July 11, 2015 Yeah, that was just for you buddy.... Welcoming the Saratoga . My last Pacific Fleet ship was USS St. Louis (LKA-116). About 1983-4, we were in and out of Subic routinely. My boys had staked out a bar as "Our Bar" (Mariposa Bar #2). One time we came into port and they had a sign welcoming "Signal Gang USS St. Louis, and listing each one of us by rate and name. One of my guys was the Command a Drug and Alchol Program Advisor! Captain saw the sign. We had a bit of explaining to do. He was an old hand, his thing was "OPSEC", and why did his DAPA have his name on a bar? ???⚓️

Mitch Posted July 13, 2015 Share #24 Posted July 13, 2015 SalSail, Very nice group of items you posted. The pictures are great. Really shows how young the guys were back then. Thanks for sharing. Attached is a large PI made patch that I would think would have been from this timeframe. It has been worn. Regards, Mitch
Salvage Sailor Posted July 21, 2015 Author Share #25 Posted July 21, 2015 Nice patch Mitch, The shop on the left of this photo was a disneyland of patches, belt buckles, carvings, etc made to order Also note the out of uniform sailor on the right being shadowed by the PC, looks like he got rolled the night before.....
