knd643 Posted July 1, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 1, 2015 I got this T-7 light anti tank mine bag on eBay a couple of days ago and was wondering if anyone had any info on them. I found some info on them in Grunt Gear but that's it. When I look it up I can't find anything. In Grunt Gear it shows a Diagram from a February 13, 1945 dated Marine Corps Technical Bulletin showing the components of the T-7 anti tank mine. I'll show a picture of it in the next post. It also says "A January 10,1945 Material Preview stated that the Mine, A-T, M-7, with haversack had been adopted as standard and would be issued. The issuance was set at 300 per engineer company, 100 per pioneer company and 50 per rifle company." Besides the info in Grunt gear I haven't been able to find anymore. Does anyone have any photos of them in use?

Steve1987 Posted July 1, 2015 Share #3 Posted July 1, 2015 Hi, I've never seen a photo of these in use and always assumed they were something made for the invasion of Japan and eventually surplus'd. They are a common pouch but it's very hard to find a T-7 mine to put in one. Regards, -Steve
USMCman01 Posted July 1, 2015 Share #4 Posted July 1, 2015 You got it for a solid price. I've heard the marines used them on Okinawa to use with explosives on caves. I'm not sure how true that is though.
tylis2 Posted July 1, 2015 Share #5 Posted July 1, 2015 Does anyone have a fuse and safety for one of these mines? Steve T
Quartermaster Posted July 3, 2015 Share #6 Posted July 3, 2015 I have a training version of the T-7 mine. My example came with a much simpler bag made of very light weight OD cotton cloth. It was designed to keep the fuze tripping mechanizm free of dirt and debris thus allowing unencumbered function. This shows the dummy fuze with safety clip and booster charge removed from fuze well. This shows the blasting cap port which could be used for detonation. Also shown is the screw in plug with wire transport/securing loop. Contents of the fuze and booster shipping container. Various methods of detonating the T-7 mine.
knd643 Posted July 5, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted July 5, 2015 That's really cool Quartermaster. Is their a date on any of the pieces of the mine?
Quartermaster Posted July 5, 2015 Share #8 Posted July 5, 2015 Looks like this example was manufactured or assembled in September 1953. The body of the mine was overpainted but you can see the marking (yellow paint stencil): MINE, AT, INERT, LIGHT, M7 The round spam can that contained the fuze components was marked (white ink/paint): Fuse, Mine, Empty AT M603 Lot LOP-SP-84A Loaded 9-53 DWG 73-9-55 REV 2-24-53 The fuze is stamped: Top: FUZE, MINE, AT, M608 Side: LOP-SR-84A 9-53 EMPT The side of the booster is stamped: LOP-SR-85A 9-
