According to Orgel's appendix; the Gemsco emblems of the period revealed a general pattern of development based on their first 1904 pattern. At some time around 1912 they began to apply the continents, per the requirements of the 1912 reg's. The collar emblem shown here is likely the earliest of that pattern development

The eagle in great relief is identical to the 1904 pattern; the globe stempling has been replaced with ornamental chasing and the anchor appears identical. The collar emblem is a pin back w/ open "C" clasp. The emblem shown is unmarked.

I have seen the early pattern with screw back and open clasp. What I would like to know; did Gemsco produce both, based on the preference of the Marine; or the period of uniform; or if the tailor of the uniform has provisioned for a screwback?

I am seeking a mate for this emblem, all offers considered.
