MikeK Posted June 29, 2015 Share #1 Posted June 29, 2015 Hi, Has anyone seen the attached deeply stamped incuse-relief "MG" monogram marking on a US wing? If so, any idea of the maker? This is on a USN wing, possibly pre-WW2. Regards Mike
rustywings Posted June 29, 2015 Share #2 Posted June 29, 2015 Hey Mike, Your rare hallmark stands for "Mecklenborg & Gerhardt" 811 Race Street, Cincinnatti, Ohio. They produced both USN and USAS wings, in limited numbers, during WWI and into the early 1920's.

MikeK Posted June 29, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted June 29, 2015 Thanks Russ, very much appreciated. I don't think I'd have had any chance finding that maker without you! Here's the wing, 2-3/4" and very flat construction with all the cut outs done by hand (the hinge pin needs some TLC but at least it's all there). bschwartz Posted June 29, 2015 Share #5 Posted June 29, 2015 Here's another one from my site if you'd like to compare it against another wing. Beautiful and very rare wing. http://www.ww2wings.com/wings/wwi/us/kingusnavypilot.shtml
