RTFREY Posted August 1, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 1, 2008 From a WWI Pennsylvania National Guardsman. An ashtray made from a German KUGEL Grenade, and a German Artillery Shell base. Very nicely done, and the 1st I've had like this. From my collection. regards, Bob Frey

Proud Kraut Posted August 1, 2008 Share #4 Posted August 1, 2008 Very cool trenchart! The company (Polte) still exists today, it produces fittings/mountings (don't know the right term now). Lars
Colt1911 Posted August 2, 2008 Share #5 Posted August 2, 2008 Thats an awesome find & the coolest ashtray i've ever seen. Just curious, any idea if it was a 28th i.d. bringback? If so i'm quite jealous.

doyler Posted October 25, 2013 Share #10 Posted October 25, 2013 Thats a great ashtray. Im wondering if the solder spots on the bottom of the shell casing once were holding .45 cal bullets.I have seen the bullets used for legs before on the base of shells and ashtrays.
