camillus Posted June 10, 2015 Share #1 Posted June 10, 2015 Hi, I was just looking at my M1910 bolo made in 1912 and found some strange marks on the cross guard, there are nicks in the edge of the guard and lines on the top, they appear to be in a pattern. Some didn't photograph because they are faint any idea what they are for thanks
268th C.A. Posted June 10, 2015 Share #2 Posted June 10, 2015 Probably just something the individual doughboy did, maybe to identify it as his...just a thought I took a look at mine, its dated 1910 serial 2xx. No marks on it. Your is a nice early one as well with the locking latch. yours gives me a idea of how many were produced early. My guess 5000 per year. Interesting. Any others out there..... V42 Posted June 25, 2015 Share #3 Posted June 25, 2015 Just something that the guy who owned it did to it. Maybe to identify it as his bayonet or to stop someone from stealing it as he would be able to identify it later. Really doesn't mean a thing.
