wolfbay Posted May 25, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 25, 2015 I HAVE A PICKER HERE IN PENSACOLA WHO CALLED BE ABOUT THIS FANTASTIC GROUP OF COLOR SLIDE TAKEN BY A US ARMY HELICOPTER PILOT WHO WAS STATIONED AT CAMP RADCLIFF, AN KHE ARMY AIR FIELD (THE LARGEST HELICOPTER BASE IN THE WORLD) IN THE CENTRAL HIGHLANDS OF SOUTH VIETNAM IN 1965/66. THERE WERE OVER 300 SLIDES OF HIS VIETNAM TOUR AND HE WAS A VERY GOOD PHOTOGRAPHER. I ALSO HAVE ABOUT 150 SLIDES FROM HIS POSTING IN THE ANTARCTIC IN 1963 OPERATION DEEP FREEZE AND I HAVE TO STILL GO THROUGH HIS TOURS IN THE 1950s OF KOREA, JAPAN, TURKEY. GOING TO BE FUN TO LOOK AT. i WILL SHOW JUST A FEW HERE.

Bob Hudson Posted May 25, 2015 Share #18 Posted May 25, 2015 As someone who buys and sells vintage slides, I can tell you you have some real gems there: color slides (especially Kodachromes) are still the best visual record of past events. Bob Hudson Posted May 25, 2015 Share #23 Posted May 25, 2015 STILL MORE I know a collector of Operation Deep Freeze who'd love those slides: I sold him some slides from the 1st Op Deep Freeze in the mid-1950's and he owns original artifacts and documents from Antartica dating back to the 1920's. gwb123 Posted May 26, 2015 Share #24 Posted May 26, 2015 STILL MORE I believe that R4D that is sticking out of the snow might be the famous "Que Sera, Sera". It was stranded down there and at one time was on a snow pedestal above the ground. It was featured in a 1950's National Geographic magazine. If it was the same plane, it was later recovered. http://www.navalaviationmuseum.org/attractions/aircraft-exhibits/item/?item=r4d_queserasera http://www.douglasdc3.com/quesera/quesera.htm
