Gant, who was a USMC Security Guard Watchstander of Company E at the US Embassy in Saigon, South Vietnam, 1972-1973. Gant's name is handwritten in the invitation. Note the after hours party was scheduled to go all night long, from 9pm Friday night until 6am Saturday morning, at No. 2 Chien Si circle (Soldier circle) in Saigon. It is hand signed by the Commanding Officer of Company E of the Marine Security Guard, Major Gerald L. Diffee, who commanded Company E 1972-1973. In the letter Lance Corporal Gant is also authorized a three day in-country R&R by Major Diffee to Vung Tau, a resort city on the southern coast of South Vietnam.
