USMCRECON Posted May 21, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 21, 2015 I had the honor of being among those that laid CPL Francis Knobel to rest early this afternoon. It was a cold, rainy, windy day but there is nowhere else I'd rather have been. CPL Knobel went missing in action in early December 1950 as the Marines and Soldiers of X Corps were breaking out of the encirclement at the Chosin Reservoir. His remains were identified a couple months ago ans was laid to rest in Arlington Cemetery with full military honors today. In pace requiescat, CPL Knobel. I tried to post a short video but the site would not allow it. Disappointing, but here's one still of the funeral service.

Mitch Posted May 21, 2015 Share #3 Posted May 21, 2015 Thank you Bill for helping lay Cpl. Knobel to rest. It has been on my local news as he is from my home state. It is sad that it took this long for the technology to become available to identify him but now he can rest in peace. Here is a link to the Dept of defense release for Army Cpl. Francis D. Knobel : http://www.defense.gov/Releases/Release.aspx?ReleaseID=17277 Regards, Mitch
