Hi, I just picked up this MK2 and am curious, when I was cleaning it I noticed that it has no fuller. It is guard marked USN over MK and RCC could this be one made for UDT thanks Mike

Mike- Never saw a "non-fuller" RCC before. But, from the looks at the blade (based on the pictures), I suspect it was substantially ground down. SKIP

Here's another guard marked RCC for comparison.

At first glance I'd say the first knife has had a lot of metal removed from the blade. I would compare the blade thickness near the guard and about 3 inches above it. I believe the blades should be about 0.140 inches thick from the WW2 spec.

Hard to imagine you would not at least see a shadow of the fuller but a lot of metal does seem to be gone. Is the blade still full length?

At their deepest the fuller cuts on these knives typically are about 0.030 of an inch or less. The cut is a radius so the max depth is only thru the center line of the fuller. So far all we have been able to do is share what amounts to "IMHO".

Seven inches is the normal blade length. Plus someone drilled a hole in the handle. I figure the tip was broken off, and someone, with no experience, ground the life out of the blade. Plus, there is no known historical reference to a smoothed bladed RCC. That's my opinion. SKIP

Camillus, some words of wisdom that were shared with me when I started collecting... "Cheap crap will always be just that, cheap crap. Spend the little extra on the nicer examples. They'll hold their value and appreciate more. And they are easier to resell when you decide to move on." I've been more selective when purchasing and have far more enjoyed the items where I followed this advice. Also, when it comes time to sell, I've found I've been in a much better position with the nicer items. Most serious collectors but condition.

At the end of the day, buy what makes you happy. If you like the blades that have been there done that, then buy those. If you're buying to enjoy short term with the idea of reselling, keep in mind what other collectors are looking for...
