coli8344 Posted May 16, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 16, 2015 One of the things I collect are USAF Missile badges. I just received one with a hallmark I have never seen. Can anyone help ID? Would be glad to send more pics if the ones attached are not clear enough. Thank you Link to comment

triplecanopy Posted May 23, 2015 Share #3 Posted May 23, 2015 I believe that your missle badge was made by General Products Company that used a 'GP' intertwined as their hallmark. It is sometimes confused with CP or Charles Polk, but they used CP Co as a hallmark. Take a look at the parachute badge posted below and see the similarity in the hallmarks. Link to comment
triplecanopy Posted May 23, 2015 Share #4 Posted May 23, 2015 Here are a couple more examples of General Products hallmarks on parachute wings. Notice the different placement of the hallmark. So far no examples of senior or master parachute badges have shown up for this collector. Link to comment
coli8344 Posted May 23, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted May 23, 2015 Oh my gosh, that sure looks like it. Do you happen to know the time frame? Thank you ! Link to comment
triplecanopy Posted May 24, 2015 Share #6 Posted May 24, 2015 GP was a hallmark used after WWII and since there is no alpha numeric letter and number (like B1 or D6) that puts the date before 1960. Sterling silver was used in military medals and badges up to the mid 1960's. The last silver coins were made (except special proof sets) in 1964. So that again gives another indication your badge was made before 1965. My best guess would be late 1950's. I have very little information on this insignia maker except that they were located in provenance, Rhode Island. I hope that is useful. Note: spell checker changed the name of the town in R.I. again.
