jim_mi Posted May 13, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 13, 2015 Hi Folks – I’ve seen some great research info on this forum, and I’m wondering how you begin this process. I bought this knife recently on eBay and am interested in knowing more about its previous owner – Gale Durbin – who may have served in the Philippines in 1944-45. The Seller thought it belonged to a woman, but I’m not so sure. See pics for more info. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Jim

gunbarrel Posted May 14, 2015 Share #3 Posted May 14, 2015 Hmmm...I don't think so. Unless I'm reading this wrong, AGD was a little kid in 1940: http://www.ancestry.com/1940-census/usa/Missouri/Allen-Gale-Durbin_33wwq0
jim_mi Posted May 16, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted May 16, 2015 Well... So far I can't find anything using the "normal" searches and genealogy websites. I'm going to keep looking, and I'd appreciate any advice you can give. Thanks, Jim
camillus Posted May 16, 2015 Share #5 Posted May 16, 2015 find out what military units were there at that time and reach out to the unit historians, also it could have been a ship good luck. Have you considered contacting a genealogist in person or check with a school that teaches genealogy and offer it as a project good luck
