robinb Posted May 2, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 2, 2015 Picked this up out of an estate, so no history came with it. At first I thought it was a regular old M1905E1, but when I went to put it in a scabbard I discovered that the blade is too long. It's 11 1/4" instead of 10". There are no markings from the company that cut it down. Clearly the parkerized finish was done after it was cut. Brown plastic grips. Plus there is still cosmoline in the nooks and crannies. What is it? Some test piece of a factory mistake which is highly unlikely.
SKIPH Posted May 2, 2015 Share #2 Posted May 2, 2015 robinb- It is interesting! Is it a Springfield, or Rock Island ? Might be just a bayonet that someone cut down on they're own, or it had a broken tip, and the unit ground it down, but kept it in an M1910, or earlier scabbard, minus 5". Cool! We could speculate all day. SKIP
