Just in case you are and just in case you did not have Barry's full name, here is the Jan 6, 44 transfer order (from First Special Service Force to 474th Inf. Rgt.)

$1800+ is a pretty penny. For that price, I would have expected a little bit more to go along with it than just a patched Ike. ?

Exactly why I didn't pursue this one. Good call.

Ref pretty penny...yes of course.....happy to buy a better one with all the goodies if you have one ID/D etc with cord......scarce on the ground unless maybe you spend $1500 to go to the SOS!

add to the above for thought...how many IKEs 1st Rangers, FSSF (cord), 474th Inf are out there?. Yes i wish it had the brass and service ribbons but.....it is out of the wood work and that is a big plus. There can not be many 1st Ranger tabs on a FSSF jacket due to the 90% casualty rate they took and which resulted in their disbandment. How much is a ID'd FSSF cord worth on the current market?

I have NO idea as I have not followed these for a number of years and when I was a serious collector I was never lucky enough to find a uniform for sale with all the correct items. At the least Barry will have the normal ETO ribbons/stars.arrowhead (maybe) and possibly a CIB even from HQ assignments in Rangers and FSSF.

I thought the price was very reasonable for what looked to be an un-messed with identified piece. Very hard to find. Congrats to the new owner.

Intresting unifrom and with the Ranger and Force connection something you dont see every day especially out of the wood work and identified.

As we have discussed before price is often subjective and worth what ever one wishes to spend.

Congrats to the new owner.Enjoy your new addition

From my rosters, I count between 110 and 162 Ranger who where transferred directly from 1st Battalion to the First Special Service Force. The reason for the large gap is the lack of ASNs for some guys. Even less then that were moved to the 474th infantry regiment later.

There is no doubt that this is a rare and nice jacket, I personally just want a little more of a grouping.

One thing's for sure -- I bet the seller was happy with the outcome.

Thought the same thing too and the final price is motivation to look for other items Im sure.

Who knows more of the group may turn up.

That's the truth. It's unfortunate that the collecting world is such a uniform minefield now...?

This is simply a great, original, and 100% legit WW2 Ranger/FSSF/474th IR uniform. Seriously, for the price, where are you going to find another? Stuff like this is worth the premium. Awesome pickup!

I watched this coat from the beginning even threw in a couple bids. If I was not so entrenched in my current interests I would have made a play on it. Fresh to the market place, un-messed with and un-restored by a collector. Id was a slam dunk, through the name, service number, NARA and the ranger rosters. Ancestry confirmed that he was from the area. Just a rock solid piece of history and rare to boot. No questions about it. I also hope it gets left alone and no insignia gets restored unless the original can be found in the estate. A piece like this does not need to be restored. Very reasonable for what it represents.

Nice Ike, I watched it to, but got a little to steep for me to wade into it. Nice Ike none the less.
