Brig Posted April 26, 2015 Share #2 Posted April 26, 2015 They aren't available commercially yet, I don't believe. I haven't seen them available for purchase at cash sales, Marines who need to replace it have to do so through a missing gear statement and have their pay docked. Once they're fully distributed throughout the Corps, they should start to appear at cash sales

Brig Posted April 27, 2015 Share #5 Posted April 27, 2015 They do, but not on the mat themselves that I've found, likely on a sticker on the plastic bag they ship in. My CIF doesn't issue them with the packaging

Bob Hudson Posted April 28, 2015 Share #7 Posted April 28, 2015 I believe you can buy the civilian version for about US $60: http://www.cpgear.com/store/sleep/therm-a-rest_z-lite_sleeping_pad.htm

msgt norway Posted April 28, 2015 Author Share #9 Posted April 28, 2015 thanks! but i have another question:did they use a non "buble" style mat like this to? i cant remember from when me and erlend visited the usmc in 2014 what type they used... cheers ken, norway
Brig Posted April 29, 2015 Share #10 Posted April 29, 2015 The Marine Corps does not use a 'bubble style' mat, the panels are all flat. Civilians tried to make it comfortable, when it was never intended for comfort but simply to act as a buffer between body and ground and prevent body heat from being sucked out as quickly
