USdog Posted April 19, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 19, 2015 Just bought this little group. I'm pretty excited as it will be my first german tag issued to a POW. From what I'm seeing, he was in the 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division and was captured at Anzio on March 3, 1944. http://www.ww2pow.info/index.php?page=directory&rec=68685 If anyone has more info please let me know! Anyone know what the "DORNIER" tag is?

Timberwolf Posted April 19, 2015 Share #5 Posted April 19, 2015 Nice little group! I know Dornier was an aircraft manufacturing company. Possibly had work detail there at some point?
USdog Posted April 19, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted April 19, 2015 Thanks for the info, Timberwolf. I was able to find his obituary on findagrave. I'm glad to be able to have a photo of him to say the least. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Glenn&GSfn=Charles+&GSmn=H&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSob=n&GRid=108381442&df=all&

Lynn Dollar Jr Posted April 20, 2015 Share #11 Posted April 20, 2015 Just bought this little group. The POW site you link, has my Dad, Lynn C Dollar, in the wrong Stalag. Dad was in Stalag 17B, a camp where the Germans put all the AAF. My brother has my Dad's german POW dog tag, that's about the only memorabilia Dad brought home. Along with a spoon, a big tablespoon, that the germans issued him to eat the cabbage soup, and the POW used to dig tunnels. Dad's spoon was wore off a good 1/2" on the end. USdog Posted April 20, 2015 Author Share #12 Posted April 20, 2015 Thanks everyone for the comments. I asked the seller if they had any more items from this POW and I lucked out. They are sending me an original photo of the vet along with the group!
KASTAUFFER Posted April 20, 2015 Share #13 Posted April 20, 2015 Nice little group. That Stalag VIIA tag has a number that is in the right range to be from an American. You should also post it in the POW dotag thread! Its pinned in the POW section of the forum. Kurt
USdog Posted April 20, 2015 Author Share #14 Posted April 20, 2015 Thanks for the info, Kurt. Nice to know that everything seems correct. I'll gladly post it to the POW dog tag thread when I get it in the mail, so I'll have the original photo of the vet to post with the group to tie it all in!
