Tonomachi Posted April 19, 2015 Share #4 Posted April 19, 2015 I believe it is British made during WW2 and worn by the Dutch Free Forces in exile as a Nationality patch.

earlymb Posted April 20, 2015 Share #6 Posted April 20, 2015 I believe it is British made during WW2 and worn by the Dutch Free Forces in exile as a Nationality patch. That is correct, the black thread used in the lion indicate it is British made. This patch was worn on the left shoulder of the British Battledress and overcoats issued to members of the Dutch free forces in exile, as Tonomachi stated. They still wear the patch to this day. -Ski The text in the scroll was changed back from 'Nederland' to the traditional 'Je Maintiendrai' in 1947 and as such is still in used today indeed.
